Viral Finder Extension — Support

The Viral Finder Outlier Detector is a Chrome extension that scans videos on YouTube and TikTok channel pages, comparing each video's views to the channel median. It highlights outliers with color-coded badges so you can instantly spot what's performing above — or below — average.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the extension work?

It scans videos on YouTube channel pages and TikTok profiles, then calculates the channel's median view count. Each video gets a performance badge comparing its views to that median, so you can quickly identify which videos are outliers.

Does it collect my data?

No. All analysis happens locally in your browser. No data is sent to any server. The extension does not track your browsing activity, store personal information, or make any network requests.

Which platforms are supported?

YouTube and TikTok.

How do I adjust the outlier threshold?

Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup. Use the threshold slider to set your preferred multiplier (from 2x to 10x the channel median). Videos exceeding this threshold will be highlighted as outliers.

The badges aren't showing

Try refreshing the page. Make sure you are on a YouTube channel page (e.g. youtube.com/@channel/videos) or a TikTok profile page — the extension does not activate on the homepage or individual video pages. If the issue persists, try disabling and re-enabling the extension in chrome://extensions.

What do the badge colors mean?

  • Gray — Below average (under 1x median)
  • Blue — Average (around 1x median)
  • Green — Above average (1-3x median)
  • Amber — Outlier (3-5x median)
  • Red — Viral (5-10x median)
  • Purple — Mega viral (10x+ median)
